19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid year, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks his first title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since that period of that year.

Victory also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first tour victory, gained dominance to force a decider.

Moutet saved four initial chances in a close third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to control a return after a lengthy match.
